Buick-Style Finned Aluminum Brake Drum

Building a traditional styled hot rod often involves spending days looking for the right parts then hoping they’re good enough to use.

Our friends at Speedway Motors have been providing the parts racers and hot rodder’s have wanted for decades and their latest release proves it.

Speedway Motors has just released their new Buick style aluminum finned brake drums engineered to fit 40 style Ford backing plates.

For years, customizers have machined Buick drums to work on their Ford, but with many compromises, time and money into reworking the tired old drums. These drums are internally balanced, 5×5.5 wheel pattern, widened mounting face, just as a Ford drum.

Sure would like to see someone reproduce the Buick finned aluminum drum to actually fit a Buick. The one they have is the early 45 fin drum. The 66-70 is a 90 fin. I've sold a few used ones over the years. Very hard to find an original that's usable.

Turns out the 240Z alfin brake drums happen to fit on a Morgan. I have both, only problem ,having trouble getting the alloy drums off the steel hub. With wire wheels, they would look and work great.
