Dream Car Barn Find

I was looking around in internet a few years back , and I noticed an advertisement for a 1968 American Motors Corporation AMX. It was a barn find and appeared relatively untouched for years.

The owner was an engineer for AMC and the car had been featured at the 1968 Chicago Auto Show at McCormick place in Chicago. I have the original paper work from AMC that denotes the destination as Chicago Auto Show. It’s the first 290 cubic inch, 4-speed car in white paint and red interior. This AMX was shown to public at several car shows that year.

Here’s an original picture of the AMX at the Chicago show, I was there as a teenager and I remember the car as though it was yesterday… I am currently restoring the car to return it to its former glory.

My Buddy in Maine has recently acquired several AMXs from Collier AMC including a 1970 Mark Donohue. Probably the last of the affordable Muscle Cars.
