Clogged Spray Paint Nozzles
Mark SimpsonDescription
Nothing can be more frustrating in the garage then you're already this spray paint something when the nozzle clogged and it happens whether the can is almost empty or almost brand new. What I've done in the shop is I keep a little bit of lacquer thinner in the bottom of a metal container or something where it's not gonna eat through. And by doing that, I can clear up old nozzles that have become clogged. And also it's a good idea to just save some of the, as you use up a spray can take the nozzle off and throw it in the lacquer thinner. And what that does is it gives you a source, you know sit and ready, clean, so when you run into those kinda problems you can just quickly grab a new tip and keep spraying.
Works super. Additionally, I like the fan spray nozzles that are on some cans. they are much better than those that spray a cone. Also, using an old 35mm film container (if you happen to have one) with the cover works great as you can put the cover on after the lacquer thinner is poured in and shake the container w/o spilling and increase the cleaning capabilities.

I've done this for years however, I use one of the old 35mm film containers. The lid snaps on and off and it is not affected by the lacquer thinner. I've also separated the fan spray nozzles from the 'round' sprayers in clear bottles. Works great!
