Magnetic Screwdriver

Sometimes you want a magnetic screwdriver. Many brands of screwdrivers are available that are already magnetized to hold small screws in tight places. We’ll take a look at how to magnetize and demagnetize screwdrivers in your own shop.
You're working in the shop, having a magnetized screwdriver can be both a curse and a blessing. If they're already magnetized or permanently magnetized, a lot of times you'll come in and you want to tighten up a screw, but then the screw will automatically come attached to your screwdriver and it'll actually cause you more trouble than it'll save you. That's why I prefer screwdrivers that are not magnetized. That way I can just temporarily magnetize them, do what I need to do, and then remove the magnetization. Here's the process.
As you can see this screwdriver has no magnetic capabilities. Take a regular magnet, just a good strong magnet, and rub it in the same direction a few times. Now it's temporarily magnetized and it'll hold a screw. To return it back to the way it was, rub the magnet both ways. And now it's no longer magnetized.
